Dear friends
We want to start the year with the emphasis on living moksa, which means living life from the nondual perspective. We unfold what this means and what it takes in most of our teachings, and my talk last Sunday focused on the difference between Self-realisation, and spontaneously living as the Self, Self-actualization. It is true that nobody can teach moksa because it is who we are, what is actual and real. All the same, Vedanta is a moksa shastra, meaning, it is a means of knowledge capable of removing the ignorance of your true nature as the Self, assuming the student is qualified and taught by a qualified teacher. But what it takes to live as the nondual Self means first and foremost, to live as your best self.
Here we must understand the importance of Vedanta as the dharma shastra, as well as bhakti yoga, the teachings on devotional practice. As Ramji so often points out, Swami Abedhanandha, who was a great Mahatma and jnani, taught that dharma and worship of God trumps moksa. If the student puts into practice living a truly dharmic and devotional life impeccably, they will be perfect bhaktas and karma yogis, automatically. Peace of mind is the result. Therefore, to live our best life means living a dharmic life anchored in gratitude and devotion. To follow dharma, we still need to purify the mind of projection and denial, and any binding likes and dislikes that stand in the way of accessing Self-knowledge, so that the mind can be totally surrendered to God.
We are still working on the details for giving our Sunday Zoom Satsangs in the form of a course based on the whole methodology of Vedanta as set out by Ramji in his books, particularly, the Essence of Enlightenment. We will give details of this and when we plan to start, shortly.
The heading for my talk this Sunday will be – Dharma Trumps Moksa. Ramji will join in too, and he plans to read a beautiful scripture on the Dharma shastra given by Swami Abedhananda, if there is time. If not, he will give this teaching next Sunday.
We wish you all a glorious start to the ‘new’ year, with the prayer that you will commit to living moksa in every moment of every day by using the tools that Vedanta provides you with to meet life as Isvara presents it to you, with Self-knowledge.
Much love
Sundari and Ramji
