(Part 3) Living Non-Duality: What Does it Truly Mean?

Time really is a strange thing, if we take it as a ‘thing’! Last year this time James and I were in New York waiting for his next heart procedure, and about to celebrate his birthday with a great big, very orange cake – which looked better than it tasted. But that’s how it is with much of the sweet stuff in life! Fortunately, if we know the source of the sweet is our own divine Self, it’s no problem. This was symbolized perfectly by the Om in the middle of the cake.

This point is emphasized in the text on bhakti by Swami Abhedananda that James has been teaching for the past few weeks, the Srimad Bhagavatum. Basically, what it says is that if you live a truly devotional life, you will be living dharmically, in gratitude. Karma yoga will come naturally, and life will be sweet, because you bring the sweet to it, even when it dishes up sour.

By popular demand, this Sunday the 2nd February, which will be Ramji’s 84^th birthday, he will continue on the same topic covered in the book by Shankara he taught from last Sunday, Prathana Satpadi and Ekasloki. It unfolds six powerful prayers on dharma shastra, which is on how to live a good life.
