"Why A Personal Impersonal Relationship With God is Mandatory for Moksa”
ZOOM on 4th August of 2024 at 7pm Madrid time
Dear Friends
Over the last month or so, I taught a few sessions which focused on living nonduality through the lens of neutralizing likes and dislikes. I have written a booklet on this, and I am going to continue unfolding this teaching for the next while. Nonduality is extremely subtle, and difficult to live, and central to it is surrender to God.
This Sunday I will focus on ‘Why A Personal Impersonal Relationship With God is Mandatory for Moksa”, because it is one of the main sticking points for Self-actualization. Without a personal relationship with God, which should be your primary relationship as it is synonymous with love as your true nature, Self-actualization does not take place.
It's the impersonal aspect of the personal relationship with God that is difficult - the both/and/neither of nonduality that makes it hard to assimilate and live. After all, the personal jiva does not disappear when we know it is not our true identity. We still live in this world. We all come to Vedanta with a deep desire to free the jiva and give it a world that makes sense, governed by a just and fair God, the upholder of dharma and destroyer of adharma. But that world and that God does not exist. Life is zero-sum, which sounds very harsh.
If you want permanent freedom from and for the jiva, you must accept a God that is synonymous with love, and yet is both dharma and adharma. Which sounds highly contradictory, but only in that way can the dream of life be known for what it is: apparently real. There is only you, the Self, the knower or witness, who shares the same identity as God, unaffected by dharma and adharma.
Ramji is on the West Coast of the US, staying with his good friend Dave Coryell in Bend, and will be participating in the teaching, too. We hope you all join us, make your contributions and ask your questions. We will do our best to answer them!
Much love
Sundari
